Personal branding is about managing your name — even if you don’t own a business — in a world of misinformation, disinformation, and semi-permanent Google records.
This tech website blog is built on my brand name OLAMOSH. I acquired this site domain 20th of January 2014 and it is to be renewed January 20th 2015 but due to some circumstances i couldn’t get the domain renewed before 20th of January.
Under normal circumstances i am suppose to renew the domain with just $12 on or before 20th of January 2015, but unfortunately I end up paying $63
All this happened because the domain registrar register.com couldn’t authorized both my UBA Ghana Visa Card & Zenith Ghana Visa Card. I tried several times using the cards to pay for my site domain renewal but all effort made were unsuccessful.
I called the Domain company customer support in U.S.A for resolution but no solution was given because the company have no alternative payment method – they accept only Credit Card.
Register.com is a company i regret working with or buying domain from, they don’t give extra days after your domain expires. The likes of Godaddy.com and web4africa.net do give extra days for you to come renew your domain.
The renewal price of http://olamosh.net automatically increased to $63 few hours of January 21st. I feel very sad seeing the price of a normal .net domain increased to $63 but i was left with no option than to renew the domain and later get it transfer to Godaddy.com.
To be sincere, the past 5days has been like hell to me because i lose some $$$ 🙂 and Readers. But thanks to Almighty God, the site is back.
Back To You
It’s important to build a personal brand because it’s the only thing you’re going to have. Your reputation online, and in the new business world is pretty much the game, so you’ve got to be a good person. You can’t hide anything, and more importantly, you’ve got to be out there at some level.
I will advise everyone reading this article to always renew their domain 30days before expiration and not wait for 48hours like me hahahahaha.
I have learn my lesson and I believe you have learn something great with this little piece.
