Anything that bears the iconic bitten fruit logo is usually swept up in record-time, and that is exactly what happened to pre-orders for Apple’s new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Apple announced that a record four million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus phones have been placed in the first 24 hours, which it claims to be the biggest advancements in iPhone history. The company has in fact received so many pre-order that it is not sure that it will be able to fulfil them all, come release day.
“Demand for the new iPhones exceeds the initial pre-order supply and while a significant amount will be delivered to customers beginning on Friday and throughout September, many iPhone pre-orders are scheduled to be delivered in October,” Apple said in a press statement.
Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO also chimed in on the record, sticking to the usual party line that it’s the company’s best effort yet.
“Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do.”
The new iPhone comes in two display sizes: a regular 4.7 inch iPhone 6, and the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 Plus. Both phones are offered in 16GB, 64GB and for the first time ever 128GB storage variants with prices increasing accordingly as well as in three colour variations, white, black and gold.
The two models will initially launch on 19th September in North America, and will then be launched to 20 other market on 26th September. There has been no official word as to when it will launch in Ghana.
