Gone are those days where websites/blogs are only accessed by people using desktop computers and laptops. Mobile technology is radically changing the speed, direction and amount of information flow. This dynamism of change has brought about the challenge for us to stay current. More people are now using mobile phones and tablets to surf websites/blogs. It has been proven by many blog/website owners, that over 55% of traffics now comes from Mobile users.
Responsiveness is the latest trend in the web space. Some bloggers still believe that having a separate mobile view for a blog is the best while others think it is not necessary, but in my own opinion, I THINK RESPONSIVE BLOG DESIGN IS THE BEST. WHY?
Recently i decided to stop using mobilepress (A plugin for WordPress that renders a mobile friendly version of your WordPress website or blog) because of it’s in-ability to render the IT job vacancies section of this blog on mobile. (The job vacancy category of this blog is developed through the help of a wordpress plugin).
Mobile friendly plugins like MobilePress sometimes deny you of using some plugins on your blog and another fact here is that “Designing separate blog layout/view for each device involves too much effort”.
“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” – Charles Darwin
A responsive blog/website design automatically adapt to the user’s viewing environment/devices (mobile, tablet, laptop etc). With responsive design, your site will make use of just one URL across all devices and you don’t need to start creating separate mobile view for your blog/website.
In this article post, i will be listing out few online tools/platform that you can use to check the responsiveness of your blog/website. Just type in website/blog URL and press the Enter key for responsive design testing. 🙂
Resposinator is one of the best online platform you check your blog/website responsiveness. In-fact it is my favorite, Resposinator will show you how your blog or website will looks like on iPhone, Android phones, iPad and Kindle.
Responsive.is is also an online tool allows you to check on responsive design for different devices one by one. Once you specify the test website/blogURL, click on either of device listing among: desktop, tablet, phone to check responsiveness of the design.
Screenfly is another beautiful online tool to check website/blog responsiveness. It allows you to select specific device type model like for tablet you can select among Apple iPad, Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom.
Studiopress Responsive is an online tool that allows you to check for responsiveness of design for any website URL among various width sizes like 240, 320, 480, 768, 1024. You can also switch to responsive design display by devices. Very neat and straight forward tool, just enter website URL and press the Enter key to preview responsive design.
Hope this little article post helps? At this Junction (J) Time (T), i will be resting my fingers and pass over the keyboard to you.
