In what seems like a norm between the two best-selling phone giants, Apple is asking Judge Lucy Koh to order Samsung pay them the sum of $21.9, being part of legal expenses Apple spent during the Apple-Samsung trail which has spanned over years now.
Apple was first awarded $1.05 billion for patent infringement from Samsung on some of Apple products, which Judge Koh saw brought down to $450 million as the rest of the case was vacated for a proper trial by 2014. Koh later awarded Apple another $290, bringing Samsung’s total debt to Apple on the case to $930 million even though the two will still fight another round of court case for the vacated part of the case by next year.
Judge Lucy Koh will once again preside over the latest suit in which Apple claims that Samsung should pay them for $15.7 they spent in legal fees and another $6.2 million for expenses racked up by their legal team.
Even though Apple is demanding for only $21.9 million, the total money the California ‘phone designer’ spent in legal expenses was put at somewhere above $60 million.
When will samsung-apple trials end? and do you think Judge Lucy Koh should grant apple request?
