Are you thinking about running your blog from your iPad? A few years ago people would have laughed at you, but because of all the great apps we have at the moment it’s perfectly feasible. It won’t suit everyone, but for bloggers looking to travel around Asia for a few months it’s something you should look into. You will obviously need those apps before you do a trial run, so let’s look at some of the most important ones you should download.
If you don’t use Skype you’re probably a little weird. I’m just joking by the way, but the reason I mention it is because anyone who works from any computer should definitely use it to speak to customers and work buddies on a daily basis. It’s the only VoIP app you’ll need on your iPad when you run it from park benches and coffee shops.
Everyone comes up with great ideas, but nobody writes them down which is the worst thing you can do when you’re running a company. Just because the idea was great it doesn’t mean it will come back. Evernote simply stops you from forgetting everything by providing you with an easy way to record your thoughts. You can even record your voice if you can’t be bothered moving your fingers.
I’m assuming your blog will be the biggest piece of your business. It doesn’t mean you’ll make all your money straight from the blog, but it will be the heartbeat of the entire operation. Instead of accessing your blog the normal way you can go through an app like Blogsy. It will let you do everything almost the exact same way as you’re doing things now, but it will make your life a little easier.
I wouldn’t normally mention spreadsheets when talking about great apps because they usually put people to sleep, but when you’re trying to run a business they come in handy. You could use them to keep track of your income and expenses, or even for recording boring things like websites you want to reach out to in the future. Numbers is the best one around and you’ll use it every day.
Say hello to the most essential app for anyone planning to work remotely. If your iPad fell in the swimming pool you might cry, but at least all your important work would be saved because of Dropbox. When you’re out exploring it’s good to know your valuable business is in good hands. If you’re smart you’ll use two cloud storage providers just in case.
Don’t feel like you need to use password management software because it only makes your life a million times easier. Why would you want that when you can write down every single password on a piece of paper and carry it around in your pocket? I’m sure you’ll love the fact 1Password will remember all your passwords and all it asks in return is that you remember one.
