Ghanaian finalist of Reality TV show Big Brother Africa Elikem and his Zimbabwean friend Pokello last Friday visited the Head office of the Telecoms firm Airtel Ghana.
The two former housemates who have fast gained popularity for their blossoming love relationship were at Airtel to show their gratitude to management and staff for supporting the reality television show.
Big Brother Africa is a reality TV game show where competitors drawn from a number of African countries jostle for the ultimate prize of a multi hundred thousand dollar cash package. This year, Airtel was the headline sponsor.
The company’s involvement through sponsorship is widely applauded for the smooth running of the show.
Pokello and Elikem held separate interactions with a number of senior executives of Airtel including Ashish Malhotra (Marketing Director) and Donald Gwira Head of Corporate Communications and External Affairs.
The latter urged the two to be worthy ambassadors and role models especially for young people saying “ use your new found fame to project positive African values for the youth to emulate”. “You should always strive for excellence in all you do,” he added.
Marketing Director, Ashish Malhotra, also expressed similar sentiments adding that Airtel’s 3.75G network gave the show’s coverage an added boost: “Many people followed your exploits in the house through news portals and YouTube, thanks to high speed internet connection from Airtel”.
He added that Airtel is a network that prides itself in friendship and getting people together hence its popular tag line “my paddies, my network”. He concluded that the company will continue to invest in the network to give subscribers across the country and continent the ultimate mobile experience, further justifying Airtel’s position as the Telecoms Company of the year.
